About

Brigitte (pronunciation) is a queer elder millennial with a passion for justice, community and (self-)actualization.

She is the multi-lingual child of a couple involved in evangelical christian missionary work, and has spent most of her adult life dismantling this dogmatic upbringing.
Her career has focused on charitable organisations, community groups and vulnerable populations.

An excellent conversationalist and storyteller; Brigitte has experience compèring events, interviewing New York Times bestselling authors and bringing the house down.

“You follow the rules, but you’re happy to make new ones if you feel they’re unjust”
— Brigitte’s first (unofficial) performance review, circa 2005

What is the purpose of this site? Good question.
This is a place for me to exist visibly online as a queer person, in a world that refuses to acknowledge my existence or specifically intends to stifle/snuff it out.
I hope to encourage readers to be creative, find something tangible to help their communities with and engage in helpful self-reflection.

In addition, I will be curating a Link Library to articles I’ve found useful or “cool stuff” I’ve found on the internet. Sharing them as they fly by on social media doesn’t help me remember them when I need to refer to them again–and this way everyone can go through them at their leisure.

And finally…

Opinions I express here are my own, and not representative of any organisations I am working for/have worked for. Some of these opinions may not be fully formed or thought out, and I am open to being challenged on these should I ever stray towards “problematic” territory. I am an evolving and improving person, in a constant state of learning.
I may also use humour or irony in my communication, but I appreciate this is not always clear.
